- Ceramic’s Workshop with Eithne Hehir, Fitzpatrick’s Hardware Shop, Friday 19/09/14, 4pm-8pm. Demonstration on how to use pottery wheel, learning techniques used to make pinch pots, a family event.
• Heritage Talk with Local Historian Michael O Sullivan on “Why Hospital is called Hospital” The Knights Hospitalliers Abbey Ruin, 19th September at 6pm.
Historian Michael O’ Sullivan will walk us through history and the ruin that remains from the Knights Hospitalliers Ruin Abbey, giving a detailed insight into Why Hospital has such a peculiar name.
• The Hospital Shop Window Festival Official Launch, Family Resource Center, Knockainey Road, Hospital, at 7pm Friday 19th September, Culture Night 2014.
- Video Works, Scoby's Bar, 8pm: Dawn West & Moran Been-noon present their video works which address the subject of rural location, spatial awareness, ideology and identity.
• Casino Voltaire: David Payne- Mullins and Ciaran Nash are implementing a time and object bank. The workshop is called ‘Casino Voltaire’ and it uses games to encourage participants to consider and converse about concepts of value, exchange, trust, currency and risk. • The Written Word; A reading from Jim Costelloe’s recent publication “Asdee In The 1940’s and 50’s, A Rural Miscellany”, Hospital Library at 7pm, 24/09/14.
• Artist Talk: “Amazing Artists in the Book of Kells” Local Artist Don MacGabhann gives a brief overview of the Book of Kells highlighting some of the features that make it such a special manuscript and an introduction to its extraordinary artists. The presentation using the online facsimile of the book will last for approximately forty minutes allowing time for some questions and discussion. Thursday 25/09/14 at 7pm in The Family Resource Centre Hospital.
• Greencraft Workshop making Recycled Accessories with Miia Satama in Family Resource Center, Hospital. Friday 26/09/14, 3-9pm. Crafted using Macrame techniques. Covering a variety of different age groups: 8-12yr old, 12-18yr old, Youth – Adult.
